Candisil For Yeast Infections
By Sarah Rhodes
Many women have infections that come back. If you have more than four yeast infections in a year, see your doctor. He or she may do a test to make sure that your symptoms are being caused by a yeast infection and not some other problem, such as diabetes.

Although most vaginal infections in women are due to bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, or yeast, there may be other causes as well. These causes may include allergic and irritative factors or other STDs. Noninfectious allergic symptoms can be caused by spermicides, vaginal hygiene products, detergents, and fabric softeners. Cervical inflammation from these products often is associated with abnormal vaginal discharge, but can be distinguished from true vaginal infections by appropriate diagnostic tests.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should also consult your obstetrician/gynecologist before beginning any over-the-counter treatments. There are some medications that should not be taken by pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. In addition, girls under the age of 12 should be seen by a physician before using yeast infection medications.

Parasites are almost always found where there is candida overgrowth and may have played a significant role in causing the candida overgrowth. Many excrete ammonia and toxins that kill friendly bacteria such as acidophilus just like candida does. Anything that kills friendly bacteris, like antibiotics, will help the candida to overgrow, as the friendly flora in your intestinal tract are supposed to keep candida and harmful bacteria in check. Some types of parasites will suppress the immune system response in the intestines

which would enable yeast to overgrow.

Yeast infections can cause severe discomfort but rarely cause serious health problems. Left untreated, vaginal yeast infections often clear up on their own, usually when menstruation begins. Menstrual blood raises the vaginal pH, causing the number of yeast cells to decrease because they can't grow in the pH present during menstruation.

Treatment first aims to improve the underlying condition that predisposes the patient to candidiasis, such as controlling diabetes or discontinuing antibiotic therapy and catheterization, if possible.

Various antifungal vaginal medications are available to treat yeast infection. Women can buy some antifungal creams, tablets, or suppositories (butoconazole, miconazole, clotrimazole, and tioconazole) over the counter for use in the vagina. But because BV, trichomoniasis, and yeast infection are difficult to distinguish on the basis of symptoms alone, a woman with vaginal symptoms should see her physician for an accurate diagnosis before using these products.
